Beyonce and Wynton
When a cat or kitten goes to her/his new home, Sharyn always sends them with a heart; part of her heart goes with them. The attached picture shows Beyonce hugging Sharyn's heart as she sleeps. The heart went into her bed when we brought her home, and has stayed there. It is not a toy that she plays with.
Several weeks ago, we were packing to go to Calgary to bury Richard's aunt. It was early (before 6 a.m.) and Beyonce was sitting on Richard's highboy watching us pack, and listening to our conversation. Needless to say, neither of us were looking forward to this trip. I had finished packing and we went downstairs to have breakfast before leaving for the airport. Our suitcase was open on our bed.
When I came back upstairs, Beyonce was sitting on the foot of the bed, and her heart was in our suitcase. She knew we were upset, and wanted us to have something to comfort us. Yes, I had tears in my eyes. We took the heart to Calgary, and when we got home, I thanked Beyonce and put it back in her bed.
IKEA has wonderful bears, which are soft, light and safe! I bought a couple for Beyonce before we brought her home. I just sit the bears wherever I think they want to sit at that time.
Beyonce brings us a gift - one of the bears, but she does not want to be seen doing it. They just appear, in our bedroom in the middle of the night, in Richard's study when he is sitting at his computer (with his back to the door), at the front door when we are out, or outside the guest bedroom door, when someone is staying with us.
They never go into the bathrooms (horrors) or into the laundry room. I have since added more bears, and a rat (the latter also from IKEA). Now the rat is also brought to us as a treat, and we sometimes find both a bear and a rat at the front door when we have been out.
I always thank Beyonce when I find one of her gifts, but she will not look at me when I am holding the bear or rat. She also does not like to watch me find another place for her bears or rat to sit waiting for her to need one again. It is now a game; I am always looking for a different place to put the animals for her to find.
Wynton has discovered ice. I like a LOT of ice in my water, and when I have finished drinking, Wynton will circle the glass, then lick the ice for a few minutes. I presume it gets too cold for him, so he stops, looks at me, then circles the glass looking for another place to drink. He will do this for about 15 minutes.
If Beyonce thinks she is not getting enough attention, she sometimes rolls on the floor in front of one or the other of us as we are walking. If she wants attention NOW, she will go to a piece of the furniture (leather or fabric) and stretch against it as if she is going to scratch the furniture. Her claws are out, but she never, ever scratches. As she does this, she will look at us as if to say, "I know better than to do this, but I am only doing it because I can."
